David Cater, Owner/Trainer
David began riding at age 10 after his attandance at a county fair sparked an interest in taking riding lessons. His road to Cater Stables started at a local barn before showing at Misty Hills under Sandy Currier. During high school and college, he worked for Jan Lukens, until he graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 2001, when he began working full time under Mike Richardson at Cricket Hill Farm.
Kristen Cater, Owner/Trainer
Kristen's equestrian career began at the age of 11, at Mariways Stable in Maine, under the direction of Annalisa Hall. After teaching some lessons and helping out at Cricket Hill Farm during her college career at the University of New Hampshire, Kristen went to work full time for Mike and Lisa Richardson at Cricket Hill in 2000. She and her husband, David, started Cater Stables in the fall of 2006.
Allison Sargent, Assistant Trainer
Allison is thrilled to return to her New Hampshire roots after three years as a caregiver and apprentice trainer at DeLovely Farm in Indiana, where she gained valuable skills in daily training, horse health care, instruction and farm management. Her riding career began at age 9 and includes a variety of local championships, finishing her juvenile career at the World's Championships. Allison earned a B.S. degree in Communications from the University of Hartford and has also written for The National Horseman magazine.
Matt Lightner, Assistant
Matt began his career at a young age, showing at the age of seven with a local "backyard" barn. After starting with Tennessee Walking Horses, he moved to Saddlebreds by the time he was 10 and started breaking colts for Jimmy Varner at just 12 years old. After graduating from high school in 2005, he moved to Mooresboro, NC, and began his assistant trainer career under Harrison Shiflet, training horses, breaking colts and managing broodmares for three years. In 2008, Matt moved to Princeton, WV, and worked for Mercer Springs Farm, gaining even more experience working with colts and amateur horses. |
